QueryCommander

A modern SQL workspace that lives in your browser.

The accepted way

A database client is a heavy desktop install that has to be configured, secured, and kept up to date separately on every machine.

What we asked

Why not one SQL workspace in the browser, hosted where your data already lives, with access controlled in one place?

QueryCommander is a full SQL client that runs in a browser tab. You host it once, close to your databases, and everyone who needs access opens a URL. There's nothing to install on each workstation.

What it does

  • One client for several engines: Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redshift, Trino, and Presto.
  • Multi-tab, multi-window editor with syntax highlighting and explain-plan visualization.
  • Schema browser for tables, views, materialized views, sequences, functions, procedures, constraints, indexes, and generated DDL.
  • Result grids with sorting, filtering, paging, and export.

Built for shared access

  • Authentication against database logins or LDAP / Active Directory.
  • Persona proxies that map LDAP users to role-based database access.
  • Credentials stored in AWS Secrets Manager, and end-to-end encryption.
  • Rate limits per user, on queries run or rows retrieved.

Runs where you put it

QueryCommander can run on a traditional Apache/CGI server, or entirely serverless on AWS Lambda backed by S3 and DynamoDB. Install it with pip install querycommander[all], or pick only the database extras you need.
